Are you curious and creative? Do you think that biotechnology can make a major contribution to industrial sustainability and circular economy? Are you interested in big issues, such as the impact of plastic products on the environment? Would you like to develop smart next generation biomedical devices? Would you like to advance your capabilities to start, manage or lead an advanced biotech company? If you answered yes, the Master Degree in Industrial Biotechnologies (LM- 8) is the right choice for you. The program has the aim of forming a modern biotechnologist with solid multidisciplinary knowledge, experimental and soft skills, capable of integrating advanced technologies. The goal is the integration of the MD graduate into key productive local sectors such as: • biomedical industry • production of sustainable food, biodegradable materials and bioactive substances.

Course content

The Master Degree in Industrial Biotechnologies provides a strong multidisciplinary scientific and technological knowledge that combines biotechnology, chemistry and science of materials, structural and molecular biology, microbiology, sensoristics, techniques for characterization and production. The program includes lessons integrated with laboratory activity; the internship or stage at universities, research institutions or companies, even in Europe; an experimental thesis in research laboratories at the university or private companies. Internationally recognized researchers, active in european, national and regional research projects, compose the academic group. The graduate will have robust training in research and development, and will acquire soft management and planning skills.

Career options

The graduate in Industrial Biotechnologies can be promptly integrated in advanced biotechnology industries, thanks to the acquired fundamental knowledge relevant for both the biomedical sector and multi-sector areas characterized by sustainable productions. The graduate will gain insights into knowledge areas of relevance in the future operating industry, such as sustainability, circular economy, life cycle analysis, environmental impact. In addition, the graduate will be able to contribute to develop the future industrial biotech business. The MD allows excellent and motivated graduates to access the PhD programs in Italy or abroad.
