Conceived as an interdisciplinary experience in labor relations management, this academic programme is unique in Italy due to an innovative approach that combines legal, economic, organizational, and management disciplines. This guarantees the acquisition of cross- curricular competencies which therefore open up a wide range of career possibilities. A distinguishing feature of the program is its close collaboration with Marco Biagi University Foundation which, through its strong network of national and international relations with the business world, offers unique opportunities to students and actively supports their entry into the job market.

Course content

The programme is conceptually divided into two distinct parts. The first provides preparatory instruction to develop basic professional competencies in Social Statistics (sampling, drafting and preparation of questionnaires, analysis of job market statistics),Labor Economics (job supply and demand, comparative analysis of Italian and European labor markets, state interventions with activist policies), Labor History, public economics law (relations between the state and the labor market, EU integration and the new economic constitution, economic freedom and social rights),Labor market Law (the state and labor market regulations), and organizational forms (micro and macro planning of organizational forms, including those for internationalization, and of organizational networks). The second part of the program provides courses which are concerned with studying specific applications of Labor market Law (types of labor contracts and their regulation), Human resources Law (rights, obligations and responsibilities of employers and employees),Human resources Management (alternative strategic models of human resources, recruiting, training, assessment and development), and organizational behavior in the context of labor (interpersonal relations and group work, the management of people, culture and organizational change).

Career options

The objective of the course is to prepare professionals who are capable of planning labor relations in a broad sense and managing their outcome because they have a strong grasp of the legal, economic, organizational, and managerial aspects of human resources. Graduates in labor relations gain the necessary competencies to take on professional roles (managerial/executive) and to deal with the specific aspects of labor relations within public or private organizations, in the area of labor contracts and disputes, industrial relations (negotiation strategies, contractual techniques), human resources management and development (research, selection, training and development, career options), labor and business organization (micro planning of roles and macro planning of forms and organizational networks), risk prevention, safety management and organization, labor consultancy, and active labor market policies (promotion and job incentives, job protection). Related professional opportunities are available in the management of human resources for production or service companies (both public and private), in management consulting companies, in labor relations, with professional associations, in personnel recruitment agencies, and in labor administration.
