Brief content description

The course aims to provide the knowledge of methodological and technological development of control systems for automatic machines in order to prepare the student to the analysis and design of such systems in the industry. More specifically the learning objectives expected following the completion of the course and passing the exam are, with reference to the Dublin descriptors, the following: Knowledge and understanding: 1. Knowledge and understanding of the operation of an automatic machine and its control system. 2. Knowledge and understanding of the hardware and software architectures of control systems for automatic machines. 3. Knowledge and understanding of programming languages for PLC controllers. 4. Knowledge and understanding of the procedures and algorithms for the generation of the trajectories of electric drives for automatic machines. 5. Knowledge and understanding of the main electric drive systems for automatic machines. Applying knowledge and understanding: 6. Ability to analyze and design control systems architectures. 7. Ability to analyze and design the control software for automatic machines. 8. Ability to analyze and design the part of the electrical drive for a control system for automatic machines.
