Green Pass for international students and staff

As of 1 September 2021 , the COVID-19 certificate (green pass) is required for all students and staff in order to access all university facilities and take face-to-face examinations. The Green Pass must be exhibited when requested.
Those who meet the criteria defined by the circular of the Ministry of Health of 04 August 2021are exempt.

Important! The following information is provided by the Italian Government and by other bodies responsible for vaccinations and issuing the Green Pass. The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia is not involved in the procedures.

  1. Do you have a Covid-19 certificate (Green Pass) obtained abroad?
    You can use your Green Pass issued in the following countries:
    • EU and the Schengen Area countries.
    • San Marino and The Vatican (for vaccination, only for EMA approved vaccines, save for San Marino citizens vaccinated with Sputnik, until 15 October 2021).
    • Canada, Japan, Israel, United Kingdom (European territories), US: these Green Passes are not verifiable through the "VerificationC19" app.

  2. Do you have a Green Pass issued in a non-EU country with one of the 4 vaccines approved by EMA?
    * The certificate must be written in one of the following languages: Italian; - English; - French; - Spanish; - German.
    If the certificate was not written in one of the above-mentioned languages, you must also provide a sworn translation.

  3. Have you been vaccinated with Sputnik, Sinovac or with other vaccines not approved by the EMA and do you want to get a Green Pass in Italy?
    As per the Circular of the 4th of November, 2021, the Italian Ministry of Health has approved a new procedure for foreign citizens who have been vaccinated with Covid-19 vaccines not yet recognized by EMA.
    1. If you have been fully vaccinated less than 6 months ago, you can only be vaccinated with the "booster" dose of m-RNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) therefore you can receive a EU Green Pass.
    2. If you have been fully vaccinated more than 6 months ago or if you have not completed the vaccination course, you can be vaccinated with both the doses of m-RNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) therefore you can receive a EU Green Pass.

      Procedure:
      1. 1. Get the Italian codice fiscale (tax code): contact the International Welcome Desk of UNIMORE.
      2. Go to the vaccination area in Modena or in Reggio Emilia(reservation is not required) and bring with you:
        - Passport/Identity card;
        - The vaccination certificate released by the Health Authority in your Country written in English and including the following information:
        • - Your personal data;
        • - Type of vaccine injected;
        • - Number of doses and date(s) of inoculation;
        • - Lot number of each dose injected.

        - Consent Form and the Pre-Vaccine Triage Form, which you can download from the website of the AUSL of Modena or AUSL of Reggio Emilia;
        - "Modulo di richiesta di dose addizionale o booster per persone non assistite e/o non residenti in Emilia Romagna", which is a form to request the vaccination in Emilia Romagna Region only for those foreign citizens who are not registered with the National Health Service (Servizio Sanitario Nazionale – SSN).
        - Modulo di richiesta "Registrazione nell'anagrafe vaccinale provinciale della vaccinazione anti Covid-19 eseguita al di fuori della regione Emilia-Romagna", which is a form to request the registration of your vaccination certificate on the database of the AUSL.

        Note: Remember to fill out the above-mentioned forms before going to the vaccination area.
      3. Have you been vaccinated with Covishield, R-CoVi (R-Pharm), Covid-19 vaccine-recombinant (Fiocruz) or any other vaccines whose holder of marketing authorisation is as the same as the European Union?
        In order to request the Italian Green Pass:
        * The certificate must be written in one of the following languages: Italian; - English; - French; - Spanish; - German.
        If the certificate was not written in one of the above-mentioned languages, you must also provide a sworn translation.

      4. What if you do not yet meet the requirements to get the Green Pass?
        Contact your Department at UNIMORE to check how you can attend lectures.

      5. Have you not yet been vaccinated?
        People who do not reside in Emilia Romagna but live in the region for proven reasons may now book the vaccination through an online platform.

      6. How can you get your Green Pass?
        The Green Pass is free of charge and automatically generated in one of the following cases:
        • After 15 days after the first dose or the single-dose vaccine*;
        • You have received both the doses*;
        • You have been tested negative to a molecular or rapid (antigen) test in the last 48 hours;
        • You have been recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months.

        * BioNTech-Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson (Jansen & Jansen).
      Important: the legislation is constantly evolving and the Green Pass issuing systems have been recently adopted and are little tested. Disruptions may occur.

      FAQ

      Do you need to receive the "booster" dose after being vaccinated with Janssen vaccine 6 months ago?

      As per the Decision of the Scientific Technical Committee of AIFA, if you have been vaccinated with the COVID-19 Janssen vaccine, a "booster" dose of a m-RNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) is recommended. You can receive the "booster" dose if you have been vaccinated with the COVID-19 Janssen vaccine 6 months ago at least.

      Procedure:

      1. 1. Get the Italian codice fiscale (tax code): contact the International Welcome Desk of UNIMORE.
      2. 2. Go to the vaccination area in Modena or in Reggio Emilia(reservation is not required) and bring with you:
        - Passport/Identity card;
        - The vaccination certificate related to the Janssen vaccine;
        - Consent Form and the Pre-Vaccine Triage Form, which you can download from the website of the AUSL of Modena or of Reggio Emilia.
