Objectives 1. Give an understanding of big data workloads: characteristics, requirements 2. Provide an overview of data center architecture and how it relates to big data workloads 3. Describe the main high-performance hardware architectures: parallel processing engines and their memory hierarchy 4. Provide mathematical tools for analyzing performance and scaling properties of big data systems
