Brief content description
The “Experimental Aerodynamics” course aims at explaining the typical aerodynamic development industrial process applied to both racing and road cars. Starting from the analysis of the characteristic parameters to measure and assess the aerodynamic performance, the two main development tools are then introduced: the wind tunnel and the CFD. The study of these tools will allow the students to understand their use, integration, and purpose in the project management within specific targets in terms of time, costs and performance. The theoretical concepts will be directly applied during the experimental and numerical workshops, which aim at finalizing the teaching activities. At the end of the course, the students will have a greater awareness about the product aerodynamic functionality and a complete overview of the main issues in the vehicle aerodynamic development.
