Brief content description

The course provides an overview of the theory and application of Regional Policy, with a particular regard to the European Union regional policy and its application in Italy. The students will learn to understand the main economic reasons of the regional policies, economic theories focusing on regional dimension, tools usually applied for orienting the economic activity on the territory, main indicators applied for monitoring regions and for evaluating regional policies. Presentation is largely descriptive, with a large use of practical examples, diagrammatic rather than mathematical tools, discussion of data and practical examples. The issues and policies of EU are submitted to a fast change. Given that the course presents and discusses the current EU regional policies the regular participation to the classes is welcome and represents a premise for a good result in the final examination.
